PORTFOLIO

photography

Photography using both an iPhone camera and a SONY A65.  I am as intrigued with humans as much as nature and the overlap of each on this planet we call home. Series include:

Nightstation and Eighty Miles a Day are  part of The City in Pictures Blog, is possibly the first of its kind to document Americana through the lens of a dirty window on the Long Island Railroad.   This journey of over two thousand miles, normally short on zen and fraught with delays, produced a remarkable series of images which capture the ever changing ambiance of this rural to urban landscape. This collection seeks to capture a bit of that timless, lonely, surreal echo emanating from New York City.

Chasing Saturn Domestic violence and child abuse are themes that runs throughout in my work. Unearthing buried memories and personal history through art is my own method of dealing with this reality. I recall clearly the first time I saw as a young student the Goya painting Saturno Devorando a Su Hijo. The image was both gristly, and hauntingly familiar. I have been intrigued by this legend ever since, not only for its gruesome violence, but also for themes of retaliation, reconciliation, rebirth and victory. It is through this project that I hope to reconcile my own experiences, and offer a way and means for others to do the same. Chasing Saturn examines a woman's point-of-view on the repercussions of intergenerational trauma. Launched in 2023 at Arte Studio Ginestrelle.
